Wamakko ,Kwankwaso,Uduaghan , El-Rufai ,Others Bag Leadership Awards

Governor s Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko Sokoto State,Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of Kano were amaong those at the Thisday Dome, Abuja on Tuesday to receive the Leadership Award conferred on the G-7 governors .The award is an annual event by Leadership Newspapers .They bagged Politicians Of The Year 2013 award.Other G-7 governors include Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State,Babangida Aliyu of Niger State,Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara and Sule Lamido of Jigawa State.Some of the governors were represented at the ceremony.
Mallam Nasir el –Rufai,former minister if the Federal Capital Territory ,FCT who was absent at the event bagged the Author of the Year Award.Though no mention was made of the details, it is an open secret that El Rufai’s Book :The Accidental Public Servant received a stormy reception among Nigerians.Many hailed the effort.Of course, his critics were equally virulent.But it is a book no serious- minded Nigerian can ignore.
Also ,Delta State Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan bagged the award of Governor Of The Year 2013 .Uduaghan who came for the award also had a large contingent of supporters from the state .Each time the names of Uduaghan and Wamakko were mentioned, their supporters roared with effusive praise.
The same jubilant reception greeted every mention of the name of Agriculture Minister, Dr Akinwumi Adesina who bagged the award of Public Officer Of The Year.
Some of the awardees also included Brand of the Year,Samsung;Telecoms Company of the Year,Swift,Sportsperson of the year,Stephen Keshi,Bank of the Year,Diamond Bank,ICT company of the Year,Jumia;Company of the Year,Chi Ltd;Business Person of the Year,Olatunde Ayeni,CEO of the Year,Konga’s Dr Shagaya and Banker of the Year ,UBA’s Group Managing Director,Mr Phillips Uduoza who was represented by Charles Aigbe .Ice Prince bagged the artist of the year award. among others.
Founder of Leadership,Sam Nda Isaiah who is now a presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC hailed the virtues of General Yakubu Gowon who was also given a special award by Leadership.Sam reiterated the need for positive change in Nigeria .He spoke along the same line with Chief Sam Amuka,chairman of the occasion who took the audience through the travails of the country.
Amuka lamented the fact that Nigeria , especially public service has taken a turn for the worse since the military sacked civil servants under the Murtala Muhammed regime.Self service rather than public service has become the order of the day,Amuka said.
Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State delivered the lecture which centred essentially on the need for soul searching and moral rejuvenation in Nigeria.The time to stop pretending about the problems plaguing the country is now, the governor said in his very rich paper.
Speaker House of Representatives,Aminu Tambuwal, Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo, Senator Bukola Saraki,Senator Umaru Dahiru ,APC chieftan Kawu Baraje ,prominent journalist ,APC North West chieftain and former minister of youth affairs,Mallam Inuwa Abdulkadir ,Mallam Mohammed Haruna and GMD leadership Mr Azu Ishiekwene were among the dignitaries at the event.
The Sokoto State delegation proceeded from Thisday Dome to Transcorp Hilton for a reception/lunch in honour of Governor Wamakko.Tambuwal,Abdulkadir among others spoke glowingly about the event and the remarkable achievements of the Wamakko administration in Sokoto.In fact, Tambuwal told the crowd his colleagues at the national assembly have always wondered where Sokoto was raising the funds for all the laudable projects by the Wamakko administarion.Wamakko himself hailed Tambuwal and thanked God and all the people for their lavish support for him.
