Update: How 342 votes secured 2nd term for Tambuwal

#TrackNigeria: The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ‎has declared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP’s), Hon. Aminu Waziri as reelected governor of state.

According to the results of the rerun elections announced, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu scored 25,515 votes recorded in the 136 polling units that were cancelled in 22 local governments of the state, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP’s) Aminu scored 22,444 votes.

The rerun polls results produce a vote difference of 342 that handed the second term to the serving governor, Tamuwal.

Newsdiaryonline recalls that while the APC scored 486,145 in the March 9th governorship elections, the PDP scored 489,558, leaving a margin difference ‎of 3,413 votes.

The cancelled votes of 75,403 necessitated the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare of the polls inconclusive.

The total votes scored by the PDP and the APC in the March 9th and rerun elections ‎are 512,002 and 511,660, respectively.

Declaring Tambuwal as winner of guber polls, the State Collation/Returning Officer, Prof. Fatima Batul Mukhtar ‎said, “That, Tambuwal Aminu Waziri of the PDP, having won majority votes, is hereby declared winner.
