Three die, others injured in Sokoto auto crash

Three passengers were feared dead and several others sustained various degrees of injuries today in a vehicle that was said to be conveying them from Warri in Delta State.

The vehicle, which was heading for Tangaza in Tangaza local government area of Sokoto state, was approaching its destination before the incident occurred.

An eye-witness who wouldn’t say his name told Newsdiaryonline that he saw the accident , which occurred a few meters from where he was.

“I was standing a few meters away from the scene. I saw three people who definitely appeared dead. I saw eleven other people who sustained various degrees of injuries. They have been taken to the hospital but some of them were in a critical condition,” he said.

Dr. Umar Gummi, Sokoto State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the incident to Newsdiaryonline but said that he could not confirm the number of casualties at the moment.

Muhammad Sahabi Gidan Mahdi, Chairman of Tangaza local government council assured that the council would foot the medical bills of those that were receiving attention in the hospital.
