‘Suspected Gunmen’ Attack SARS Hqtrs in Abuja

Gunmen this morning attacked the office of the Special Anti –Robbery Squad ,SARS in Abuja .Police spokesman CSP Frank Mba told the AFP that the attack was repelled.

AFP quotes the police spokesman as having said “I can confirm that there was an attempted attack on the (special anti-robbery squad) this morning which was repelled.”He also described the attackers as “suspected gunmen”.

This dare-devil attack came a day after the twin bomb blasts at the Military Cantonment in Jaji yesterday where worshippers at St Andrews church were killed.Though official said 11 persons were killed yesterday,while 30 others were injured ; unofficial sources said about 50 people died. Last year, a Boko Haram suicide bomber hit the Force headquarters in Abuja;next came the attack on UN office in the FCT as well as the bombing of Thisday Abuja office.Ever since security had been intensified in Abuja. Today’s ‘attempted attack ‘ appears like the  first major breach in a long while.No group has claimed responsibility for  attacks yesterday in Jaji and Abuja today.
