Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar has urged politicians not to allow the road leading to 2015 to be stained with the blood of Nigerians.
The Sultan told Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) when he paid courtesy visit on the at the Palace in Sokoto on Wednesday.
“So much acrimony and mudslinging is now going on in Nigeria and there is the need to stabilise the nation’s polity. So many things are now happening in the nation’s polity contrary to what obtains in other parts of the world,” Abubakar said.
Observing that politics in Nigeria was being played contrary to what obtains in other parts of the world, the Sultan added that Nigeria needed stability not only in the PDP, but the entire nation. We need to do whatever it takes to have stability in the polity.
“Whoever emerges in 2015 elections should be acceptable to all Nigerians. Violence always begets violence and there is nowhere in the world where violence will bring peace,” he stressed adding, “Leaders at all levels must always preach peace for Nigeria to evenly develop.”
The Sultan advocated “immediate stop to the politics of hatred as it does not do any good to Nigeria.”
Mu’azu earlier told the Sultan that his visit was aimed at according respect to the traditional institution where he serves as the Father to all Nigerians.
“Traditional rulers in Nigeria are striving to ensure the prevalence of peace and unity,” he told the Sultan.
