Storekeeper bags 6 months jail term for stealing employer’s turbocharger

A Zuba Upper Area Court, Abuja, on Monday sentenced a 27-year-old Storekeeper, Francis Onyekachukwu, to six months imprisonment stealing  his employer’s bus turbocharger.

Onyekachukwu of Mararaba, Nassarawa , was arraigned on a count charge of theft servant, an offence he admitted committing.

judge, Gambo Garba, however gave convict an option to pay a fine of N20, 000 .

Earlier, counsel, Mr Chinedu Ogada, told court that an Abuja-based Transport Company, Urban Mass Transit, reported matter at Dawaki Police Station on March 4.
Ogada said that Onyekachukwu was employed the company as a storekeeper.

He said that sometime in February, while the convict was on in the store at the Katampe Urban , he stole  a bus turbocharger.

The prosecutor said that on Feb. 27 Onyekachukwu admitted committing the crime and paid N17, 000 as part the turbocharger.

He said offence contravened  the provisions of Section 289 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
