Sokoto: Wamakko, NDE disburse N15m to 1,000 small-scale businesswomen

Senator Aliyu Wamakko has collaborated with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) to disbursed N15 million to one thousand small scale business women in the state.

A statement by the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Senator, Bashir Mani made available to Newsdiaryonline Monday said each of the beneficiaries that are into small food businesses were given N15,000.

Wamakko disclosed that one million unemployed women and youths had been empowered by the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration of President Muhammadu Buhari..

“This is in demonstration of the APC led federal government to positively impact the lives of Nigerians, especially the less privileged, especially women, youths and other vulnerable groups.

“These laudable programmes introduced and logically implemented included market-moni, trader-moni and N-Power, amongst others, targeted at empowering small scale business people,” he said.

The Senator reassured Nigerians that Buhari remained fully committed to further empowering more Nigerians, especially the women, youths and the vulnerable.

He promised to sponsor Ramadan feeding centers at the All Progressives Congress (APC) strongholds where, as he alleged, the state government was planning to close them.

The APC gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, who described the gesture as historic, maintained it could not come at a better time than now, with few hours to the commencement of this year’s Ramadan fast.

“This is part of the series of such uncountable, invaluable gestures of Senator Wamakko to further uplift the living standard of the people of the state, from 2007 to 2015, when he was the governor of the state, and up to now, as a Senator Without Border .

“Senator Wamakko is a father to the fatherless as well as a strong voice to the voiceless. He is also a strong pillar to the less privileged,” he said.

Aliyu Sokoto also commended NDE for the effective collaboration with Wamakko.

He appealed to the beneficiaries to use the money wisely so as not to defeat the objectives of the noble gesture that include the alleviation of poverty, unemployment and youths restiveness .

Other speakers at the event included former Commissioners, Alhaji Tukur Alkali and Professor Musa Garba Maitafsir, former Minister, Senator Bello Jibril Gada and Hon. Sani Alhaji Yakubu, a member of the State House of Assembly,  representing Gudu Constituency.

A cross section of the beneficiaries who commended Senator Wamakko and the NDE for the gesture promised to use the funds for the purpose they are meant for.
