Saharareporters has denied reports that its officials attacked TV journalists at a court premises in Ilorin.
It could be recalled that Saharareporters, the vocal advocacy platform has been in a legal battle with Senate President Bukola Saraki in Ilorin.
A statement by Sahara reporters in response to the reportage of incident by one of the newspapers reads thus: “We refer to your reporting of the case as excerpted below:
‘In the mayhem, a woman, identified as Funmi Ajayi, was stripped half-naked, while reporters of the Africa Independent Television, Core TV and Channels TV were attacked by loyalists to Saraki and SaharaReporters.’ “
The statement said further: “Saharareporters vehemently deny and reject (sic)any insinuation/suggestion that anyone associated with the medium attacked reporters of CoreTV, AIT and Channels TV or engaged in any form of violence within the court premises in Ilorin, Kwara state.
It further alleged that “ These reporters were attacked by supporters of Senate President Bukola Saraki within the court premises as captured live by several citizen reporters on the date specified. Curiously, these media companies refused to report the attacks on their reporters because they reportedly had a deal with Saraki not to embarrass him.”
