Rivers Supreme Court judgment excites APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed happiness with the of the Supreme Court its Rivers chapter,  describing  it as upright and just.

Chief Ogbonna Nwuke, the state APC spokesperson said this in a statement in Port Harcourt Friday.

“Today, the Supreme Court has finally ended all arguments relating to who the authentic Chairman of the APC Caretaker Committee in Rivers.

“It is now clear that Mr Igo Aguma was a meddlesome tombo fly who had no right, under whatever guise, to challenge the right of the party to choose leaders of its Caretaker Committee.

the ruling, Isaac Ogbobula is the authentic Chairman; it is now clear that the obstacles placed the way of the APC in Rivers have been removed.

“We want to thank the Justices of the Supreme Court for their wisdom and upright decision,” he said.

According to Nwuke, Rivers are elated by the ruling of the Apex Court, the decision has lifted the veil and put all who were behind the action to destabilise the APC to shame.

“We thank our leader, Mr Chibuike Amaechi for his sterling leadership qualities and commend all those who fought on the side of truth, we cannot thank them .

“Now that the storm is , we wish to state categorically that our doors are to receive all who believe in the mission of the APC,” he added.

The APC Spokesman said that in of the defeat the Sen. Magnus Abe led supporters have suffered, the door would not be shut against them, if they were willing to be team .

“We have learnt that Igo Aguma has withdrawn his membership of the party, following the crushing defeat, we can only wish him well in his future endeavours,” he said.

In September, 2019, the APC National Working Committee (NWC) led by Mr Adams Oshiomhole, appointed the five man Caretaker Committee headed by Mr Isaac Ogbobula.

The decision was faulted by Mr Igo Aguma, who claimed not to have been consulted as statutory member of the party’s State Executive Committee, before the appointment was made.

Aguma decided to challenge the matter in court.

On June 9, 2020, a judgement was delivered in his favour, by George Omereji (Rtd.), in which the caretaker committee appointed by the NWC of APC was nullified.

But the party approached the Supreme Court on the case, leading to Friday’s . (NAN)
