As the issuance of the membership cards of All Progressive Congress (APC) commenced today, General Muhammadu Buhari has called on Nigerians to come out en masse and register with the party.
Buhari who made the call in Kaduna said, “I want to use this opportunity to call on Nigerians to come out and register with APC to ensure positive change explaining that the registration exercise is commencing today 5th and it will last up to 10th of this month.”
‘Go and register so that you can participate in the processes that will lead to the convention to elect leaders of the party as well as those that will be identified to stand election subsequently from Councillorship to Presidency,” the APC chieftain stated.
General Buhari congratulated the members of APC and urged them to be law abiding aim at
ensuring the success of the exercise.
He explained that if Nigerians elected APC come 2015, the issue of insecurity will be addressed with a view to ensuring permanent peace and unity in the country.
He said APC is committed toward ensuring sincere democracy, rule of law, in order
to provide the real dividends of democracy to Nigerians.
While answering questions on why APC was formed, General Buhari explained that “the process leading to APC started in 2005, when we realized that no single party can face the PDP and survive because of the way things are going. So, we decided to come together from across the country to form a strong party to face PDP. If you recall in 2010, we had two committees in ACN and CPC and we shared experience we had the name, the log, draft the constitution and manifesto etc.”
Nyako Registers As APC Member
Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State registered as a member of the All Progressives Congress APC at Hammanyero ‘A’ pooling unit in Mbilla Ward of Mayo Belwa Local Government by 11.30am on Wednesday 5th July,2014. He registered in the presence of top Party leaders which include Dr Umar Duhu, the National Vice Chairman North East, Hon. Kobis Ari Thimnu the Interim State Chairman, Engrr. B. D. Lawan the National Ex Offfficio Member, Abdullahi Bakari the state organising secretary and a host of others.
Speaking shortly after, Governor Nyako said with his registeration as a card carryingg member of APC all talks of his return to the PDP has been effectively forreclosed. He caled on all well meaning Nigerians to join the APC and save Nigeria from impunity, lawlessness and retrogression. He described the PDP as a sinking ship and a dying party.
Also speaking at th venue the Interim State Chairman, Hon. Kobis Ari Thimnu said the registration excercise has started very well in the State. He expressed optimism that the process will be succesful in the whole state.No tags for this post.
