Pressure Group Emerges Within APC,Says Anambra Guber Election Is Launch Pad

The yet to registered All Progressives Congress [APC], has gotten a pressure group which aims at promoting the interest of the party in all the six geo-political zones of the country. The group is known as the All Progressives Congress-National Grassroots Mobilization League[APC-NGML]
Speaking during the inauguration of the group’s National Coordinating Committee over the weekend, its National Coordinator, Dr Asira Enya, said that with determination, the APC-NGML would do a lot to assist the APC,both in terms of achieving registration and scoring electoral victories in subsequent elections in the country.
Dr Enya who is a lecturer at the University of Calabar called on other well meaning Nigerians to join hands with his group in its desire to assist the APC in its rescue mission in Nigeria.
“With determination, we can do a lot in this direction. The problems of Nigeria are not new to us. APC is on a rescue mission. All we are doing is supporting the party to achieve the change we are all craving for”, he said.
He added that “we are not fighting anybody. What we are looking for is the political power to put Nigeria where she rightly belongs among the comity of nations. We are not going to abuse this power when we get it , like the Peoples Democratic Party[PDP] has been doing in the last 14years or more”.
Speaking also during the occasion, the South-East coordinator of the group, Chief Vincent Uzuakpundu, boasted that the Governorship election in Anambra State, which is scheduled to hold later this year, will be the launching pad for the APC, not only in the zone but throughout the country.
“We are going to use the Anambra Guber election to prove that APC is very popular, not only in the South-East but the entire country”, he said .
He vowed that APC will liberate the people of Anambra by ensuring that within the first three months of its assumption of the governorship of the state, it will conduct a credible local government election.
Uzuakpundu who is an Onitsha –based business man, asserted that the people of the South-East have embraced the APC, irrespective of the opinion of persons who have resorted to blackmail by referring to the as a Sharia-party.
“APC is like a hurricane sweeping across the entire length and breadth of Nigeria. The people of South-East have embraced the APC revolution though a few enemies of the masses are busy giving the party bad tags such as Sharia party which it is not.
“The basic truth is that such persons are afraid of the radical changes that APC is coming up with, which will help liberate the masses of our people from the condition of misery and penury which their oppressors have sentenced them to in the last 14 years”, he averred
It would be recalled that the former Governor of Anambra State, Dr Pius Chukwuemeka.Ezeife, had , in a recent newspaper interview, referred to the APC as ‘Sharia party’, a statement the APC-NGML chieftain described as very unfortunate.
Other leaders of the new group which they described as “an amalgam of progressive –minded citizens from the six geo-political zones of the country’ , include Alhaji Umar Alkali[National Secretary], Arch. Amdy Amji[National Organizing Secretary],Chief Anayo Arinze[National Publicity Secretary] and Usman Yusuf[National coordinator, North-East zone], among others.
