Power Generation Remains At 4,439.5 Megawatts ,Minister Insists

The Minister of State for Power,Mr  Darius Dickson  Ishaku has debunked media reports that power  generation  the country has dropped by 1000 megawatts.A statement signed by Dr.‘Dere Awosika ,Permanent Secretary of the ministry on Tuesday evening said “The attention of the Ministry of Power has been drawn to a  report  in some media alleging that power generation has dropped  by 1,000 megawatts.”

Dr Awosika  said “The fact is that there is no iota of truth in the publication.   Presently, the peak generation has remained at 4,439.5 megawatts.   This peak status was gained on September 05, 2012 and since then it  has been steady.

According to the permanent secretary “The Honourable Minister of State for Power, Arc. Darius Dickson  Ishaku wishes to assure Nigerians that the recent gains in the power  generation are not only being consolidated, they will be improved  upon

The Ministry appealed to the media to always visit its website http://www.nigeriapowerreform.ng/ for up-to-date information on power  generation status.  “We have tried as much as possible to be  transparent and provide relevant and accurate data. Our door  remains open to the media and the general public” the statement said.

The report of a drop in generation  has evidently further rattled the ministry which is still battling to recover from the cloak -an dagger intrigues which recently saw to the ouster of Prof Bart Nnaji, the substantive minister recently. No replacement has been named for Nnaji yet.
