As the people of Libya take to the polls to elect a 200 seat National Assembly, the Pan African Parliament – an organ of the African Union that embodies Africa’s collective aspiration for constitutional democracy has expressed solidarity and support to the Libyan people.
In a press release, the President of Pan African Parliament, His Excellency Hon. Hon Amadi pledged the support of the Pan African Parliament to the new assembly as they embark on drafting a new constitution and appointing a transitional government. He urged the Libyan politicians to take to heart the principles of the African Union Charter on Democracy, Elections and Good Governance which he opined will be instrumental at restoring constitutional democracy and democratic ideals.
