#TrackNigeria: Mr David Paradang, former Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Comptroller-General, and PDP senatorial candidate in Plateau Central, has donated 600 crash helmets to commercial motorcyclists in Pankshin.

Paradang, whose constituency is made up five local governments – Bokkos, Kanam, Kanke, Mangu and Pankshin – donated the items on Friday, during a rally organised by the Pankshin Unit of theFederal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the rally was to sensitize the commercial cyclists on the need to use the helmets for protection, in case of accident.

Paradang, in a remark, said that the gesture was part of his efforts to install a culture of safety so as to protect the lives of the riders from danger.

He said that the motorcyclists constituted a bulk of the electorate in Plateau, and promised to do even more to boost their welfare if elected as senator to represent the area.

Earlier in his welcome speech, Mr Nnamdi Ikeh-Akabogu, the commander of the unit, had said that no one was born “to die a careless death”.

“This rally is meant to enlighten the motorcycle riders on the need to use the crash helmet because the facility is crucial toward saving their lives in case of accident.

“Many lives have been lost to lack of crash helmets; we do not want this to continue,” the commander warned.

Also speaking, chairman of the motorcyclists union, Mr Samuel Kupsut, thanked Paradang for the gesture and praised FRSC for being a true friend of the union.

“We also want to particularly thank the FRSC for paying a lot of attention to saving lives on the highway,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that heads of all security agencies in Pankshin Local Government attended the rally. (NAN)
