The President/Convener of VOTAS, Comrade Mashood Erubami said it is painful that we lost four police corps in the rescue mission, the bravery of the policemen showed that the country still has dedicated policemen who are alert to their responsibilities and are ready to safe the society.
The statement condemned in its entirety the abduction Saga which can be traced to joblessness among the youths and called on the abductors to release Mike Ozekhome who have devoted his life to fighting for the poor without any further delay.
It condoled with the families of the four policemen who lost their lives while attempting to rescue the Human Rights Lawyer and prayed for the repose of their souls.
It described the killing of the policemen as barbaric, frightening and sad, adding that government should do everything possible to ensure the safety of lives and properties in the country.
The statement therefore call on government and Nigerians to always rally round the families of security agents who lost their lives in the course of services to the nation, so as to encourage others to be committed to saving the society and protecting lives.
Also,Dr. Muiz Adeyemi Banire, former commissioner for environment in Lagos State and an APC official, in his private statement today said “The recent and most bloody kidnapping of Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, in Edo state, is quite alarming and frightening. It is a confirmation of the truism in the aphorism that the death of a relative is an assertion of one’s own mortality. It is a most condemnable incident that we must all rise up to stop.
We had not finished nursing the wounds inflicted on the national psyche by the most unfortunate kidnap of the wife and daughter of the Hon. Justice Bode Rhodes Vivour and the accompanying dent on our national image” when ..Chief Ozekhome(was abducted ) followed by the senseless killing of four Policemen in the process. “How long do we continue like this with the insensitive Boko Haram plague still a noose around our neck?”No tags for this post.
