NLC: We are celebrating 40 years of struggle – LOC chairman

The chairman of the organising committee of Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Peter Adeyemı has said that the Union on the Union was commemorating its 40th Anniversary as a platform for labour struggles.

He recalled that as a Union since its formation, NLC had been proscribed by the Babangıda and Abacha regimes, between March and December, 1988 and 1994 to June, 1998 respectively.

According to Adeyemi, “the objectives of our commemoration are to celebrate forty years of struggle and perseverance as a working class union and to highlight the history and accomplishments.

He said that the anniversary would be marked at states and national levels from February 22, 2018, starting with public lectures.

Adeyemi added that Prof. Attahıru Jega, who was an ASSU president during the turbulent IBB years as milıtary Head of State, would delıver an annıversary lecture on Monday, 26th february, 2018 at the Internatıonal Conference Centre, Abuja.

“Thıs is an anniversary to reflect our on struggle, our trıals, our successes and trıumphs. We have a long hıstory to reflect to reflect on,” he explained.
