The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Alhaji Musiliu Smith, a retired Inspector General of Police, today, Thursday, October 25th, 2018, received in audience, the leadership of the Association of Retired Police Officers of Nigeria (ARPON), led by its President, High Chief Fidelis Oyakhilome, a retired Deputy Inspector General of Police.
The Association came to wish the PSC Chairman well in his new assignment and to express its desire and readiness to cooperate with him in the arduous task of rebuilding the Nigeria Police Force from what it called “its current trend of degeneration”.
Receiving his guests, Alhaji Smith, disclosed that the new management of the Commission led by him met a lot of problems but that they are working hard to surmount and clear them.
He thanked the Association for pledging to stand by him in the task of transforming the force to a modern and efficient one adding that his doors will remain open for their constructive advice. He also assured the Association of his support and determination to attract friends of the association to assist in their projects.
Chief Oyakhilome had in his remarks said the association will be available to support the PSC Chairman and will ensure that he was not misled. “We will do our best to make your tenure a success.
He said the Nigeria Police was lucky to have Smith in the helm of affairs at the Commission, a man he says knows the workings of the Police and who has a track record of exemplary leadership qualities. He prayed that God should continue to give him the wisdom and good health to transform the Nigeria Police Force.
