Fresh facts reaching our newsroom said the National Judicial Council ,NJC has forwarded three names to President Goodluck Jonathan for appointment as President Court of Appeal.Sources said the names were forwarded after a meeting of the NJC on Thursday.
It was learnt that the justices nominated for President Jonathan to appoint include Justice Dalhatu Adamu (Presiding Justice Kaduna Division); Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa (Acting PCA) and Justice Amiru Sanusi (Presiding Justice Abuja Division).The president is expected to select one of them as the new substantive PCA.
According to insiders this move has been the traditional way of choosing the President Court of Appeal.
“In line with its tradition, the National Judicial Council,NJC has at the end of their meeting on Thursday this week, decided to forward the names of the three most senior Justices of the Court in order of seniority to the President for appointment as President, Court of Appeal. The President of Nigeria traditionally chooses the most senior for the substantive appointment”, Newsdiaryonline was told.
This report came on the heels of suspension and sack of some justices on the grounds of alleged gross misconduct.
