National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has presented resettlement items to its trainees of Environmental Beautification Scheme (EBTS) in Adamawa with a view of making the trainees self-reliant as unemployment continued to plague the country’s economy.
Presenting the items at a ceremony Thursday in Yola, the state NDE Coordinator, Mallam Aliyu Abubakar, said the scheme was conceived to provide employment through environmental beautification. ” In the face of the abundant labour and acute unemployment in most cities and towns, the NDE believed that employment could be generated in this area (beautification).
” The NDE took the lead by training young men and women in this soft and hard landscaping to bridge the gap”, Abubakar said. He urged beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity to be gainfully employed.
In her address, the Adamawa Commissioner for Youth Development, Mrs Margaret Mzombato, said the development was a significant one in marking the various effort by government at all levels to addressing the problem of youth unemployment.
” I am pleased to learn that the NDE has over the years empowered several thousands of youths, women and even the vulnerable members of the society through its multitude of schemes and programme in the state.
“You must therefore not relent in your efforts in training and retraining our youths and the creation of pool of entrepreneurs that will provide the necessary skills requirement of an improved Nigerian economy”, Nzombato said.
She urged beneficiaries to remain committed and to endeavor through hard and dedication to succeed.
” It is my conviction that the beneficiaries of this scheme will utilize these tools provided by the NDE in providing not only employment but a sustainable economic means of livelihood for themselves and others who may be employed by them” Nzombato said.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mallam Aliyu Doma, expressed gratitude to God and NDE for what he described as a dream come true. “NDE has done everything for us. We are grateful to God, we are grateful to NDE and for sure we are committed to going out to justify this confidence in us”, Doma said.
