NCC qualifies MTNN, Airtel for 3.5Ghz spectrum auction



The Communications Commission (NCC) has announced MTN Nigeria Communications Plc, Airtel Networks Ltd and Mafab Communications Ltd., as approved bidders the forthcoming 3.5 gigahertz (Ghz) spectrum auction.

Dr Ikechukwu Adinde, Director, Public Affairs, NCC, said this a statement on Thursday Abuja.

Adinde said the license was the deployment Fifth Generation (5G) networks the country.

He noted that the qualified bidders met the criteria participation the licensing process 3.5Ghz spectrum, including payment the stipulated Intention to Bid Deposit (IBD) as outlined the Information Memorandum (IM).

Adinde said that the mock auction was scheduled Dec. 10, while the main auction will on Dec. 13, both Abuja.

He said: “The stage now set the three companies to participate the main auction.

“They will also participate in the mandatory mock auction process, which will come as a precursor to the main auction.

“The commission has also reaffirmed the dates the conduct both the mock auction and the main auction.” (NAN)
