The management of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has assured customers within it’s operations that payment portals will continue to function if the national strike scheduled for November 6, holds.
Mr Godwin Idemudia, the EKEDC’s General Manager, Corporate Communications said in a statement issued on Monday in Lagos that this is one of the numerous proactive measures taken by the company in preparation for the proposed national strike by the labour unions around the country.
Idemudia, however, assured customers that all online payment portals will be fully functional and stated that customers need not fear running out of electricity units during the strike.
In this same vein, he encouraged customers to pay their bills on time in order to avoid interruptions to their power supply.
He also urged customers to assist the company in identifying those that partake in unlawful activities such as vandalism and power theft by making use of the company’s various whistle blowing platforms.
According to him, these platforms can also be used to report cases of foul play or extortion by unscrupulous elements within the company as it is a safe, secure and confidential means of alerting the company of these unethical activities.
It would be recalled that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) threatening to commence a nationwide strike from November 6 if the federal government fails to meet their demands on 30,000 minimum wages.
