Preparations were on Tuesday at top gear in Lafia ahead of President Muhammdu Buhrai’s rally. The President and APC Presidential Campaign Team are billed to arrive Wednesday.
A visit round the State capital by Newsdiaryonline Tuesday revealed that finishing touches were being put to the venue of the rally in the centre of the metropolis.
Top officials of the state were seen inspecting the venue which has been adorned with APC colours ahead of the president’s visit.
The Commissioner for Information,Muhammad J.Zakari disclosed Tuesday that the state was 100 per cent ready to receive the president. Speaking with the State House Press Corps, the Commissioner said “the people of Nasarawa State and the government are eager to receive Mr President and his campaign Team tomorrow(Wednesday) and we have pulled all the stops to ensure that preparations are in top gear to receive the president.. and ensure a successful campaign. And our people are going to come out en masse to support our President. And so from the point of view of preparations for this visit, we are virtually 100 percent ready, and we are only looking forward to a very successful outing.”
Towards a successful event, it was learnt that Governor Umar Tanko Almakura had set up a Committee to ensure proper coordination of activities.
Though the State Stadium was billed to initially host the rally,Newsdiaryonline learnt that deficiencies in sitting arrangement forced a rethink compelling the state to choose a new location.
It could be recalled that whistle stop campaigns have witnessed podium collapse in one or two locations across the country and security is one of the major considerations for organisers of major events like this.
