The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) for the third time in a row, has come tops in an independent survey carried out by the Independent Service Delivery Monitoring Group (ISDMG), for its outstanding performance in service delivery.

The Independent Survey Monitoring Group, a non-governmental organization which canvasses transparency  in public institutions, at a dinner at the International Conference Center Abuja, conferred three different awards on NAMA for what it described as  “sterling performance of the agency.’’

This year’s award was particularly instructive as the agency was voted for “Effective and Efficient Service Delivery; Most Outstanding Public Institution in the Transport Sector; and Most Outstanding Public Institution in Nigeria”.

The award and certificate were received by the Company Secretary of NAMA, Barr. Paul Oki who represented the Managing Director ,Engr.Ibrahim Abdulsalam at the award ceremony.

A trophy was later presented to the agency as the most outstanding public institution in transport and aviation category  by Prof. Sam Egu, a lecturer with the University of Jos who was also the chairman of the occasion.

The trophy  triggered an unprecedented applause from the crowd which gave NAMA a standing ovation for a job well done.

Earlier in his opening remarks, the Director General of the outfit,  Dr. Amadi Chima stated that the parameter used in selecting the outstanding awardees was based on transparency in conducting government business, accountability, policy and programme implementation, physical discipline and prompt response to correspondence.

He revealed that over 400 institutions were assessed this year with intense voting from various platforms which lasted about four months and brought out the best of the best as was evident in the result of the vote by Nigerians, stressing that corruption could be curtailed if people are honored for honesty hard work, due diligence, accountability and service delivery.

It will be recalled that the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency in the just concluded 9th Abuja Trade Fair was also voted  ‘’Best Exhibitor Government Agency’’ from a total of 217 exhibitors who took part in the fair.

Meanwhile, the Managing Director of NAMA, Engr. Ibrahim Abdulsalam, in his reaction to the latest award, dedicated it to the entire staff ‘’ for their commitment towards ensuring the safety of the Nigerian airspace.’’
