As the Sallah celebration end on Tuesday, the Movement for the Survival of Ogoni People (MOSOP) has appealed for love and religious tolerance as it felicitates with the Muslim faithful on Eid-el Kabir.

The group, which made the appeal in Port Harcourt, urged Islamic Clerics to preach the message of love.

“Making deliberate success of this season, Islamic clerics and leaders should preach love and tolerance which guarantees peaceful co-existence and development in the society.

“The celebration is quite apt, coming at a time when our country is faced with political challenges which are rather wrapped in religious and ethnic colourations.

“It is our hope that the ideals of this celebration will not be missed or ignored, MOSOP said in a statement sighed by its Publicity Secretary, Mr Sunny Zovah, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

“What we need at the moment and always is a message of caution to all religious groups to show love to one another and avoid comments and speeches capable of igniting civil unrest and religious crisis in the country.”

According to the statement, the country can only move forward if there is justice, peace, tolerance and patriotism.

It urged both leaders and followers in Nigeria to imbibe such virtues, adding that religious organisations were expected to lead the desired change.

It also congratulated Muslims all over the world and wished them a hitch-free Eid-el Kabir celebration. (NAN)
