Mark Pleads With Abductors Of Okonjo-Iweala’s Mother

President of the Senate, Senator David Mark has  called on the abductors of Prof. Mabel Kamene Okonjo, the mother of the  Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo – Iweala, to release her unconditionally.This appeal was contained in  a press release signed by Kola Ologbondiyan special adviser on media and publicity to the president of the senate

Senator Mark, in a passionate appeal urged the abductors to honour the time-tested biblical injunction that we honour our parents and by extension those who are old enough to be our parents.

According to him, “the abduction of any Nigerian is condemnable.  The abduction of the mother of a notable Nigerian like Dr. Okonjo – Iweala is an attack on the international reputation of our dear country.”

He noted that “abductors are causing the nation’s reputation grave harm among the comity of nations adding that such crimes are not different from the senseless killings being perpetrated by the Boko Haram.

Senator Mark urged the Nigeria Police to intensity efforts in securing the release of Prof. Okonjo and bring the perpetrators of this heinous act to book.
