A statement signed by Omoba Kenneth Aigbegbele National Co-ordinator ,NRA said “The Award is coming at a very auspicious moment especially when the first Lady is known to have selflessly pursued the upliftment of women across Africa. Today, the 13 women Ministers in the federal cabinet are to her credit including the 35% Affirmative Action Policy of the administration and the appointment of women in every sphere of our national life which has also added value to the transformation agenda of Mr. President.
“Her pet projects, the Aruera Reachout Foundation (AARF) and the Women for Change Initiative (W4CI), has vigorously pursued the mobilization of women for greater involvement in governance and the restoration of health related cure to mothers and children including the building of a heart hospital in Abuja to cater for the less privileged. Under her watch, as Chairperson, of the African First Ladies Peace Mission (AFLPM), she had shown commitment in the distribution of relief materials to war-torn countries and has also assisted in bringing peace and stability to the African continent.
According to the chairman, the first lady should be commended for her hard work and motherly role in Africa by all well meaning Nigerians and the entire board is using this opportunity to spur the first lady to continue to offer selfless service to humanity and as a shining light for the women in Africa. “We say more grease to your elbow ma.”
