A 24-year-old man, Asarya Godwin, was on Friday arraigned in an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court over alleged house breaking and theft.
Godwin, whose address was not given, is facing a two-count charge of house breaking and theft.
The prosecutor, Insp. Olumide Bamigbade told the court that the defendant and others at large committed the offence on Dec. , 2021, at Alafiatayo Area in Ado-Ekiti.
Bamigbade said that the defendant and others at large conspired among themselves to commit felony with house breaking and theft.
He said the defendant and others at large stole 43inches plasma television valued at N150, 000, one laptop – Tosiba valued at N50, 000 and barbing clipper valued at N5, 000.
Other items stolen are; body massaging machine and BPV machine valued at N60, 000, with total value of N265,000 belonging to Owolabi Olufemi.
He also alleged that the defendant and others at large stole one 32 inches LG television valued at N35, 000, a solar TV valued at N280, 000 and 40 pieces of kitchen wares valued at N70, 000, totaling N385, 000 belonging to Olasope Olarewaju.
According to him, the offences contravene Sections 516 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The prosecutor asked the court for an adjournment to enable him to study the case file and assemble his witnesses.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
His counsel, Mr Tunmise Akinwumi, urged the court to grant his client bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.
The Magistrate, Mrs Franca Olaiya, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.
She adjourned the case till Feb. 2, for hearing. (NAN)
