The Legal Aid Council of Nigeria on Tuesday said that it successfully concluded 22 cases in the month of March in Kano state.
The State Coordinator, Alhaji Abubakar Umar, who made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano, disclosed that the cases comprised 16 criminal and six civil.

NAN reports that the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria is an agency of the Federal Ministry of Justice which provides free legal service to indigent Nigerians.
Umar said that the council also added 11 fresh cases to its log in March consisting of seven criminal matters, while the remaining four were civil cases.
The coordinator said that some of the civil cases were resolved out-of-court.
According to him, most of the civil cases were related to default on payment of pension and retirement benefits, mostly by privately-owned companies and Pension Fund Administrators (PFA).
He said that other cases bordered on land disputes, marriage issues and debt recovery.
“Some of the criminal cases handled included armed robbery, criminal breach of trust, homicide, rape and theft,” Umar said. (NAN)
