At least 30 people have been killed as in Maiduguri,Borno State ,North East Nigeria following explosions carried out by female suicide bombers.
The explosions said to have been carried using Improvised Explosive Devices occurred near the Maiduguri Monday Market.Two blasts came about ten minutes apart.
Official comments were being expected on the heels of this blast.
It occurred a day after the border town of Damasak also in the state was attacked killing unknown number of people.
More than 100 people have been killed by insurgents in the last one week in Borno State alone.
Minister Condemns Borno Killings
Minister of State power and Leader of PDP in Borno state,,Hon Mohammed Wakil has condemned the bomb blast in maiduguri and Damasak as a continuation of inhuman conduct and actions of the insurgency,describing the killings as “sad and depressing.
” This heartless killing is not only unislamic but inhuman and animalistic. It is reprehensible and highly condemnable”, the minister said.
Hon Wakil said killings of innocent ones seeking their daily livelihoods cannot be in service of Almighty Allah,calling on the insurgents and their backers to stop the bloodshed and accept the olive branch from the Federal Government.
“I commiserate with the victims and their families .I am a victim;we are all victims.I want to assure our people that President Goodluck Jonathan is doing all that is necessary to stop the insurgency. Our security agencies are daily re – strategising to defeat the insurgents. But this is a guerilla war which is conventionally a very difficult war for the security agencies
” I solicit support of our people for security agencies to defeat the insurgents .We must all join hands to ensure that the terrorists are defeated”, the minister pleaded.
