Lawyers Hail Emergence Of Interstate As Core Investor In Enugu Disco

Power stationThe Abuja Chapter of the South East Lawyers Forum (SEWF) has hailed the emergence of Interstate Electrics as the core investor in Enugu Electricity Distribution PLC, saying that it was time those who lost in the bid redirect their energy so that efforts can be concentrated to make the South East the best in electricity supply.
The group said in a statement signed by its Coordinator, Barrister Okoye Emeka, Secretary, Dubem Ugwunweze and Publicity Secretary, Osegboh Ifediora that it is gratifying to note that Interstate diligently followed the processes in the books, leading to its complete payment of the required funds “to the satisfaction of the regulating agencies”.
Therefore, “we condemn in strongest term the pull him down syndrome. We believe that after any contest there is bound to be a winner and a loser, since the winner is fortunately our own son, we should encourage and assist him to succeed rather than spuriously plotting his fall”,
The group stressed that since Interstate has been proven to have already completed its payment and fulfilled all obligations prior to take over after a transparent bidding process, all that should be done now is for all Igbo nationals to join hands with them and not pull back the hands of the clock, so that the Igbos would not be left behind, once again, in the scheme of things.
The statement noted that: “The selection of Interstate as the preferred bidder for the PHCN Enugu Disco was via a transparent and open bidding process, where all the attributes of due process was followed and the best company/bidder won”
According to them, the preferred bidder has the technical competence and expertise as well as the financial capacity to deliver on their mandate and on the expectations of the South East people which is an improved power distribution.
“We should all join hands and support the preferred bidder in any way we can to achieve the ultimate goal of lighting up the South Eastern states in the interest of the expected economic growth of our zone. We wish to use this medium to congratulate Interstate Electrics and our illustrious brother Sir Emeka Offor on this land mark achievement. He has made the Igbos proud once again”.
