Lawal Kaita Lauds Kwankwaso’s Support For Education



kwankwaso newFormer Governor of Katsina State and Chairman Board of Trustees of Al-Qalam University, Katsina, Alhaji Lawan Kaita expressed appreciation to Governor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso over tremendous assistance he is according to the university especially the building of a befitting students’ hostile.
He said this on Sunday when Kwankwaso paid a courtesy to him at the university, lamenting that although the university is in Katsina state, the state government is dragging its feet in terms of supporting it.
Alhaji Kaita who explained that board members of the university have tried severally to meet Governor Shehu Shema but to no avail, extolled Governor Kwankwaso for not only assisting the university but personally visiting the university to thank and encourage its management.
Responding, Governor Kwankwaso thanked the University for offering admission to Kano students, pointing out that the students have met the university’s academic requirements before they were admitted.
“We will continue to do whatever we want to make our students comfortable and I am sure with you support our students at the end of the day will excel,” he emphasized. The governor further emphasized that education is very crucial in Kano state, pointing out that “that is why we are working with many universities in Nigeria and abroad to secure admission for our students”.
Kwankwaso said that so far the state government has built hostels in Ahmadu Bello University, Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto, and Bayero University, Kano to enable the institutions accommodate more students from Kano.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Shehu Ado Garki disclosed that Governor Kwankwaso is the only governor assisting the university among governors of the institutions’ catchment area, adding that Kano has the largest number of students in the institution.
After the courtesy visit, Governor Kwakwaso interacted with students at the conference hall of the university.
Meanwhile, Governor Kwankwaso has attended the wedding Fatiha of Nusaiba Bashir Kurfi and Bello Muhammad Kabir Abdullahi (a son of the former Managing Director of Federal Road Maintenance Agency). The wedding took place at Muradin Katsina Palace in Kurfi, Katsina state on Sunday.
