The Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) says it will strengthen measures in place to rid its franchise of all forms of illegalities.
This is contained in a statement to newsmen by the KEDCO Head of Corporate Communications, Mr Ibrahim Sani-Shawai on Thursday in Kano.
It noted that the task force inaugurated to assess meter functionality discovered a lot of illegal connections, meter bypass, vadalism and power theft.
“These constitute a huge economic sabotage for KEDCO and it is in this regard that the company mandated our task force teams to ensure a thorough house-to-house check in an effort to clean up the wrong doings in Kano franchise,” the statement said.
It said that anyone caught forthwith would be prosecuted, as KEDCO would no longer tolerate any act capable of causing revenue loss, damage and or theft of its installations.
It appealed to customers to stop engaging in illegalities capable of hindering power sector development in Kano, Katsina and Jigawa States.
The company urged them to report any form of illegality to any KEDCO office. (NAN)
