Kebbi to establish 1,000 pastoralists’ settlements

Gov. Bagudu of , on Tuesday, said the state government was making arrangements to establish 1,000 settlements for pastoralists to curtail the recurring clash between farmers and herdsmen.

The governor made the disclosure while presenting the N151 billion 2018 proposed budget to the state’s  House of Assembly in Birnin Kebbi.

said the settlements be provided with water, animal feed, and other amenities.

explained the establishment of settlements for pastoralists also encourage modernisation of dairy farms and beef production.

He gave the assurance the pressure over sources of water for commercial fishing, especially availability of fingerlings, also be resolved, stressing “fingerlings would be provided to the scope of fishing.” (NAN)
