Kaduna State Government has so far disbursed N140 million out of the N200 million it earmarked as loan to empower women in the state.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Hafsat Baba, made the disclosure on Thursday in Kaduna.

“The loan disbursement which started in 2018 is been benefitted by different categories of women such as the less privileged and the physically challenged.

“For instance, over 2000 members of Miyetti Allah Women Association have benefitted from the loan,’’ she said.

She called on the youths nationwide not to engage in electoral violence, and avoid illicit drugs and other negative behaviours.

She also urged parents to have control over their children, adding that they should always discharge their parental responsibilities by supervising what their children do.

Baba also called on women to come out and vote so that they can participate in the democratic dispensation which comes once in four years, stressing that `you cannot complain when you don’t vote the leader you want.’

Wife of Kaduna State Governor, Hajiya Hadiza El-Rufai, called on all women to make use of the loan given to them judiciously.

She also called on women to come out en masse and vote peacefully as that was their civic right. (NAN)
