Kaduna Community Rejects Polio Vaccines In Protest Against Lack of Amenities

Madara Community in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, North-west Nigeria, Sunday, rejected polio vaccination due to government failure to provide social amenities to the area,
A youth leader Haliru Lawal in the Community while addressing the youth, elders, vaccination team and Journalists Against Polio ,JAP members who were in the area to carry out local theater, said the area has been cut off from the outside world due to the collapse of the bridge that links the area with other communities
He Explained that the only LEA primary School in the Village is in bad shape and they don’t have secondary school among others saying that “we would not allow polio vaccination until government addresses our problems”.
Although the elders, Imam and Pastor in Madara pleaded with the youth so that the polio vaccination would be carried out considering the importance of exercise, the youth refused.
The Polio Campaign held in Rigasa Community in Kaduna metropolis on Saturday was peaceful and successful where over 270 children of between 0-59 months were vaccinated .
Meanwhile, before the end of the July campaign JAP said it intends to visit non compliance areas in Zaria, Kudan, Ikara and Makarfi with a view to carryout local theatre aimed at educating parents on why they should always allow their children to be immunized.
