Col. Austin Akobundu national vice chairman, south east zone of the People’s Democratic Party has saluted the courage of the Judiciary and thanked the Court for standing up for Justice on the issue of sacked local government officials who have been reinstated.
The judgment of the Court of Appeal upholding the appeal of the duly elected Local Government officers arbitrarily sacked by Governor Rochas Okorocha of IMO state is a victory for democracy, a triumph of the rule of law and a vindication of the age-long aphorism that might is never right, the national vice chairman said.
A statement issued today on his behalf by his Special Assistant (Communications), Mr Dan Okereke said the National Vice Chairman seized this opportunity to congratulate the Local Government Chairmen and Councillors in IMO state for this historic and well-deserved victory as they mobilize to respect the Higher Court’s ruling by dutifully returning to their offices to serve out their term and the good people of Imo who elected them.
The National Vice Chairman also appealed to all PDP members in the state to remain law-abiding and refrain from any action capable of over-heating the polity.
Finally, Col. Akobundu used the opportunity to thank all Nigerians for having faith in our Party PDP and assured them of better days ahead.
“Once more, let me say congratulation to all because this victory is for all of us”, the National Vice Chairman said.
