Igbo group urges NOA to educate South-East residents on voting

#Tracknigeria: The Ndigbo Unity Forum (NUF), a pan-Igbo socio-political group, has urged the National Orientation Agency (NOA) to start massive education of South East residents on voting in the forthcoming general elections.

The President of NUF, Mr Augustine Chukwudum, made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Monday.

Chukwudum noted that there was the need for NOA through robust education to check the negative voices against people of the zone going to vote.

He said that the education must also centre on the electorate not to sell their votes because “that is their power’’.

He said that there was the need to vote out politicians and political parties that had given the zone poor governance in some years.

“This clarion call becomes imperative following the failure of some politicians holding key positions to impact on the life of the citizens and residents of some states in the zone.

“This time, our people must wake up from slumber and vote out current politicians who are seeking for re-election, having failed to deliver their campaign promises to the people,’’ Chukwudum said.

NAN reports that it is less than two weeks to the Presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled to hold on Feb. 16. (NAN)
