ICT Crucial to Anti- Graft War – Lamorde



The Executive Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes commission, Ibrahim Lamorde has emphasised the need for appriopriate deployment of cutting edge technology in the against corruption and economic crime.

Lamorde who spoke his , Dr Jimmy Imo, made the observation on Wednesday, July 11th 2012, during a visit by a delegation from the West African NGO Network (WANGONET) to the headquarters of the Commission in Abuja.

While  commending WANGONET for engaging  and guiding young people to embrace the against corruption the use of modern technology, the EFCC chairman stated that “the battle against corruption has become so sophisticated with the advent of modern technology such that the Anti Corruption Internet Database [ACID] initiated by WANGONET will be very useful in fighting corruption and financial crimes.

He expressed the Commission’s willingness to forge a closer relationship and collaboration with WANGONET, adding that EFCC will be represented at the forthcoming forum of the organisation.

Speaking earlier, Customer Service Relations/ Advocacy Officer of  WANGONET, Femi Aderigbe said they were at EFCC to congratulate the Chairmen and staff of  EFCC for  their efforts in fighting corruption despite the odds and explore ways of  fostering mutual , especially on how his organisation could Information Technology in the work EFCC does.

He accompanied on the visit by  Emmanuel Egbule, a Research .

The West African NGO Network established in 2000, to harness and bring the benefits of the steadily evolving Information and Communication Technology sector to Non-Governmental Organizations, Government, educational & cultural institutions and the private sector.
