I Don’t Believe In Sit Tight Leadership—Hon. Mbadiwe

By Chuks Ehirim
Nigerian political leaders have been advised to focus attention on rendering service to those who voted them into offices instead of concentrating perpetuating their stay in office.
This advice was given by the Hon. Member representing Ideato -North, Ideato-South Federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon.Eddie Mbadiwe. The law maker who was
speaking while receiving the newly elected members of Executive of Ideato Peoples Assembly who paid him a courtesy call on Monday, said he hates the idea of leaders wanting to stay in office perpetually even when they have nothing to show for it.
“My idea of leadership is that you make use of the opportunity to render services to those who elected and get out , allowing others to serve. It is not wise to keep wanting to stay in office especially when you have nothing to offer the people”, he said.
Hon. Mbadiwe said that his priority is to contribute to the making of good laws that will enhance the standard of living of his constituents as well as other Nigerians, adding that he had spearheaded the introduction of a Bill in the House of Representatives which will make it a
punishable offence for any parent not to allow his/her children to acquire education.
He assured the visitors that by the time he completes his four years as a House of Reps member, there would have been a remarkable difference in the quality of representation his constituency enjoys from what it used to be like in the past.
He lamented that Ideato as a political bloc in Imo State , had suffered serious marginalization in
the past. “Ideato is a nation made up of Nwabosi,Arondizuogu and Mbanasa. Our people were marginalized in the past, in the scheme of things. We found this out during the campaigns for the last general elections, that the people were suffering. But by the grace of God, by the time I finish ,there will be a difference”, he said.
He praised Governor Rochas Okorocha for the good works he is doing in Imo State, especially in the ereas of provision of infrastructure.
Speaking earlier, leader of the delegation and President –General of the association, Chief
Nicholas Ifeanyi Awaji, thanked Hon. Mbadiwe for granting audience to his team at a very short notice. He said the association is a pressure group that is out to ensure that things are done properly . He pleaged the support of the association to the law maker and asked him to always work for the interest of the people he is representing.
Ideato-Peoples Assembly elected new exco last weekend with Awaji as President,Okwudili Obioha as his vice, Barr.Kenneth Udeze as Secretary –General, Chief Dave Ononobi as Financial Secretary, Mrs Maureen Ezeanyika as Treasurer and Barr. Maxwell Alaeto as Publicity Secretary, among others.
