Herders’ Attack Claims 5 Lives In Kogi-Sunday Trust

About five persons were said to have been killed when Fulani herders attacked Abugi community in Lokoja Local Government of Kogi State during a reprisal attack.

It was gathered that the crisis between the herdsmen and Abugi community started about two days ago when some Fulani herdsmen allegedly robbed and killed one Abdullahi Zakari, who was sent on an errand to deliver money to somebody in a neighbouring community.

Our reporter gathered that the youths in the community who were unhappy with the killing of their kinsman, carried out a reprisal attack in one of the Fulani settlements in the area, which resulted in the death of one person in the settlement.

The source said as a result of the development some Fulani elders met with the paramount ruler of the community, Alhaji Kabir Isa II with a view to seeking amicable resolution of the matter.

According to the source, rather than allowing peace to reign, the Fulani herdsmen in a group on Friday at about 5pm attacked the Abugi community and killed some people and burnt houses and property worth millions of naira.
