#TrackNigeria: Concerned students of the Lagos State University (LASU) under the auspices of LASU Pacesetters, on
The group’s Coordinator, Mr Olawale Kappo, said the declaration was a sign of appreciation to the APC Government for her gestures toward the development of the university since 1999.
“The success of Lagos as a rapidly developing state cannot be discussed or appreciated without giving due accolades to the managers of its affairs, the Progressives.
“The leadership of the party has been in charge of the affairs of Lagos since 1999 and its ability to throw up progressive minded individuals as the Chief Executive of the state has been largely responsible for the success of Lagos State.
“No doubt, LASU has benefitted so much from the successes of Lagos State, under the government of the progressives,” Kappo said in a statement .
According to him, the decision to support Sanwo-Olu/Hamzat 2019 movement also grew out of Sanwo-Olu’s recent gesture of providing free WiFi for LASU community while yet to be elected.
“Very recently, Mr Sanwo-Olu visited the university for the inauguration of the Aderemi Makanjuola lecture Theatre, and while he was addressing the audience, promised to ensure the installation of free WiFi in LASU.
“This promise has since been fulfilled as LASU community now enjoys free WiFi at the click of a username and password.
“This act shows the great intent of the party and its gubernatorial candidate,” he said.
Kappo noted that the university under the APC government had transformed tremendously and this contributed to its achieving the status and recognition by the World Bank as Africa Centre of Excellence (ACE) to generate new knowledge.
The coordinator said the group would do everything within its capacity to support the Sanwo-Olu/Hamzat 2019 movement for governor and deputy governor of Lagos State to ensure the emergence of the duo.
He noted that the group would also support the Greater Lagos Initiative of the Progressives by providing banners and a wide of range of souvenirs to serve as campaign materials.
“We are convinced that the emergence of Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat will bring about the better and greater Lagos we all crave for as residents of the state.
“At LASU, we look forward to enjoying more support from the government of the progressives under the able leadership of Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports LASU Pacesetters as a group of well-meaning and progressive minded individuals made up of graduates and undergraduates of the institution.
The group is a pressure group established to champion the progress of the university and by extension Lagos State and Nigeria, irrespective of the individual involved.
