Gridlock: FRSC deploys more officers, synergies with sister agencies



The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on said that it had deployed more of its officers to work other sister security agencies in Oyo State to ensure flow of traffic Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The state Sector Commander, Mrs Uche Chukwurah, disclosed this in an interview the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan on Monday.

NAN that commuters experienced traffic on Sunday around Oriental, Dominion and Ajanla axes of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The personnel of the FRSC were busy controlling vehicular traffic from 8:00 a.m. on Sunday till around 4:00 a.m. on Monday.

She said that the FRSC officials returned to the expressway as early as 6:00a.m. on to ensure that the road free.

“Today, I have deployed more FRSC men to work other sister security agencies in the state to ensure flow of traffic.

“FRSC is working fully Operation Burst, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the police.

“Our tow is also on standby in case of any obstruction,” she said.

She attributed the of Sunday’s to drivers’ disregard to traffic rules and regulations.

“There a high influx of vehicular movement in and of the state that resulted into people driving against traffic.

“There no accident or obstruction road that caused the gridlock; it as a result of route violation by motorists.

“Several motorists took to single lanes, driving against traffic,” she said. (NAN)
