Mr Santos Larab, the Green Party of Nigeria (GNP) Senatorial candidate for Plateau Central Zone, on Wednesday donated wheelchairs to 20 Persons Living with Disabilities (PLWDs) in his zone
Larab, who is also lecturer with the University of Jos, donated the wheelchairs in Pankshin, the headquarters of the zone.
According to him, the gesture is his widow’s mite toward alleviating the suffering of PLWDs in his district.
“Over time, I have serious concern on way in which our brothers and sisters, who have one form of deformity or the other are being neglected.
“This is what informed this gesture; I want them to know that they are still part of the society and should not be seen as second class citizens, ” he said.
The candidate said if elected to represent his people at the National Assembly, he would initiate bills that would give the PLWDs a pride of place in the society.
He also promised not neglect the PLWDs after winning elections, as it has been the practice in the past, but assured incorporate them into the mainstream of legislative business.
“In the past, politicians would come with a lot of promises and asked you to vote them, but after winning, you hardly see them again. This time, it will be different.
“If I become the Senator, I will initiate bills that will enable you enjoy all the privileges as Nigerians, and we shall do it together.
“I will always avail myself at all times and attend to complaints that will come from you and all members of this zone,” he further pledged.
The 20 beneficiaries were drawn from the five local government areas that make up the zone. (NAN)
