Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho lauded Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo after the pair netted twice in Los Blancos’ 2-2 draw with Barcelona in a riveting Clasico encounter.

The Portuguese coach was about his ’s performance despite failing to close the gap on their fiercest rivals and admitted he enjoyed the match – especially the talismanic pair’s displays.

“Messi and Ronaldo are from another planet. I want my player to win [the Ballon d’Or], but they are both fantastic,” enthused Mourinho.

“As a coach, I’ve enjoyed the game. It was a great match and the result wasn’t decided until the final moment. Everyone has enjoyed the game too.”

Mourinho also reserved special words praise for the performance Mesut Ozil.

“Ozil provided with quality and had a great match.”

The flamboyant coach refuses to the referee’s performance in detail, but did state that the man in black made a vital mistake.

“Real Madrid are a club gentlemen. You can’t speak about the referees. If there is a philosophy to follow then I have to adapt to it and in truth I like it.

“I’ll take a great match and a good referee, at one moment in the match made a key mistake, like the players and I also do sometimes.”

The result sees Barcelona remain on top the Liga table with a lead three points, while maintaining their eight point gap over fifth Madrid after seven games.
