Government Girls Science Secondary School (GGSSS), Kuje in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has graduated 150 students and presented prizes to the deserving ones at the 36th annual graduation of the school.
Mrs Umogu Bassey, the principal of the school, disclosed this in an interview during the graduation and award giving ceremony in GGSSS Kuje on Wednesday.
Bassey commended the graduating students for their successful completion of secondary education, just as she enjoined parents to continue to guide them as they would fully mingle with members of the society.
“I am very very excited because God has brought us this far as we graduate 150 students today and they will leave uprightly and do what is good in the sight of God.
“My desire is that they will all come out top in their various institutions as they proceed in life and become relevant in their endeavors.
“They should continue to work hard to become good ambassadors of Nigeria and the society for the development of the country,” she said.
The principal tasked the FCT administration to upgrade the school’s laboratories with modern equipment to enhance teaching and learning, even as she called for the landscaping of the school compound.
She equally appreciated the contributions of the teachers of the school for grooming the graduands and called on them to sustain the gesture, even as she tasked parents to endeavor to sustain sponsorship of their wards to tertiary level.
However, she described education as the best investment for an individual as well as the best legacy parents could give to their children.
The chairman, PTA of the school, Sir Henry Ugbaja, advised the graduands to focus on furthering their education and not engage in early marriage, promising to give adequate attention for conducive teaching and learning.
Miss Rita Eze, the graduating head girl of the school thanked the principal of the school and all parents for their support and love and promised to use the knowledge acquired for development of the country. (NAN)
