FUTA, Howard University Firm up Collaboration

futa full-logo 600 newThe growing internationalization of the Federal University of Technology Akure, FUTA, got another fillip recently with the visit of James Momoh, Professor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, from Howard University, Washington, United States of America. The erudite professor, who is also a Director in Howard, was in Akure to give effect to the Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, signed between both institutions. Momoh said he was in FUTA as a follow up to the visit to Howard by FUTA Vice- Chancellor ,Professor Adebiyi Daramola , and to work out modalities that will kick start the collaboration between both institutions in the areas of academic , staff and students development.
Receiving the visitor, Professor Adebiyi Daramola said the visit of Momoh indicated a final seal of approval from the authorities of the Howard University and the commencement of the collaboration that would further deepen the development of FUTA and position it in a vantage position among its peers in the world. He said collaboration and partnership with renowned universities and institutions from across the world was being done to reposition FUTA and make it become a major player in the field of technological education not just in Nigeria but also in the World. Professor Daramola said the collaboration with Howard will open opportunities to staff and students of FUTA to become the best they can be. He therefore encouraged staff and students of FUTA to take full advantage of the opportunities encapsulated in the memorandum of Understanding.
Under the terms of the agreement, the two institutions will collaborate on academic development and staff training. It will also give opportunities for post doctoral fellowship and other exchange programs for staff and students.
