Former NAN Editor-in-Chief, 11 others bag award

The Daura Emirate Youth Progressive Movement in Katsina State has presented an award of excellence to former Editor-in-Chief of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Malam Lawal Ado for his contributions to the development of the emirate.

The event which took place in Daura on Saturday, was  attended by prominent sons of the emirate.

The group also honoured 11 other people of the area who contributed immensely to the growth and development of the area.

They include Prof. Sadiya Daura, Provost, College of Legal Studies, Alhaji Lawan Haruna, Alhaji Yusuf Maiadua, Alhaji Ado Magajiyar-Karkarku and Alhaji Bello Jirdede.

Others are Alhaji Abba Yahaya-Baure, Yusuf Bello-Maiadua, Alhaji Habu Magaji, Alhaji Aminu Umar, retired AIG Sani Ahmed and former Minister, Alhaji Sani Zangon Daura.

Malam Abdulkadir Lawal, the Chairman of the group said the awardees had made impressionable contributions to the emirate particularly in the areas of youths development.

He said most of those who received the award had impacted positively on the youth through provision of scholarship, guidance and counselling, securing employment to deserving youths among others.

He said the group would continue to recognise individuals who distinguished themselves in different fields of human endeavour especially those who used their positions in bringing development to the society.

Alhaji Bello Jirdede, who spoke on behalf of the awardees, commended the group for the initiative, saying it would encourage them and others to do more in the service of their communities.

He said they would remain committed and steadfast in lifting the youths to have a better and responsible future.

Various papers were presented on issues affecting the youths in the country. (NAN)
