The Federal Government is set to inaugurate the Joint Working Group for the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) Focus Labs in Abuja on Tuesday.
A release issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the Vice president on Media and Publicity, Mr Laolu Akande, on Monday said Vice President Yemi Osinbajo would perform the inauguration at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Akande said that the establishment of the Focus Labs was expected to further boost economic growth and ensure Nigeria continued its journey of building a competitive economy.
He listed the objectives of the plan to include eradicating corruption in government procurement and processes, prudent management of resources.
Others are social inclusion, overcoming power constraints and skills shortages, and further promoting private sector inclusion.
The media aide noted that in less than a year, following its launch by President Muhammadu Buhari, the implementation of the ERGP had seen the country’s economy record significant strides, including its exit from recession and improved stability in the fiscal and monetary markets.
Akande explained that in line with the administration’s economic focus and direction, the ERGP Focus Labs were also aimed at driving new investments.
He envisioned that they would create thousands of jobs for Nigerians across the 36 states of the federation and, in the long-term, continued to grow the economy.
The senior special assistant said that a Central Steering Committee and Joint Working Group of the ERGP Focus Labs comprising nine ministers would also be formed. (NAN)
