Female contractors protest in Kebbi over N1.8bn unpaid School feeding debt

A huge of number of sad-looking female contractors protested  in Birnin Kebbi,capital of Kebbi State in Northern Nigeria  over government’s  refusal to pay three years feeding money  for junior and senior secondary schools.

According to the leader of the contractors Hajiya Maryam Badariya,  since 2015 the state government has not paid  a dime to the contractors.She said thedebt has  now accumulated to N1.8bn of  capital without profit.

She added that because of  this  refusal to pay the money,  many have died and several others are  down with differContractorsent ailments.

Maryam lamented that since their  monies  are being held by the government,  their children have been withdrawn from private schools,Many others  can’t even send them to public schools..

She sobbed  while saying  that all appeals to the governor Senator Atiku Bagudu fell on deaf ears.

Therefore, she  called on president Muhammadu Buhari to prevail on the governor to have mercy on them by paying them at least what they have spent on the contract even without profit for them to survive, describing their situation as pathetic.

Efforts to get Commissioner Of Information, Gado Marafa to speak on the matter were unsuccessful.
