The FRSC Sector Commander in the territory, Mr Oga Ochi said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Abuja.

According to Ochi, the Corps is also partnering with the Police and INEC to ensure a hitch free exercise on Saturday, Feb. 12.

He also said that the FRSC had begun the inspection of all vehicles that would be used for the election in order to certify them fit for the exercise.

According to him, the Nigeria Police Force is the lead agency as far as this election is concerned, saying “we will work with them and other relevant stakeholders to have a successful exercise.

“Apart from certifying the vehicles for use, we are also deploying personnel officially for this assignment and this will cover all the area councils and wherever the election will be holding.

“Our medicals will be on ground and ambulances will be deployed in all the area councils to respond to emergencies.

“We know that at the polling units, we cannot rule out completely the possibilities of emergencies and that is why we are deploying our ambulances to the nooks and crannies of the FCT.

“We will be taking care of cases that are needed to be attended to as far as the conditions of people are concerned,’’ he said.

Ochi said that the Corps was collaborating with transport unions to also inspect all the vehicles across the whole of the area councils.

“We have mandated all our unit commanders to carry out this exercise in the various area councils.

“We will also ensure that the roads are free and will remove every obstruction that will hinder any form of movement of electoral materials and whatever thing that will be moved from one point to the other during this election.

“It is our duty to ensure the road is clear. And we will be part of the restrictions of traffic.

“We will be partnering with other agencies of government to ensure that people obey these rules and are allowed to move freely during the election and vote freely. (NAN)
